Former Site of the Third Sub-district of the Jiangxi Military District. In July 1932, the Guangdong Army stationed in the Xing (Ning)–Mei (County) region of Guangdong and the Shanghang and Wuping counties of Fujian, along with landlord militia groups from along the Fujian–Guangdong–Jiangxi border, repeatedly harassed the southern part of the Central Soviet Area. To adapt to the military situation on the southern front, the Central Committee and the Jiangxi Military District decided to establish the Third Sub-district of the Jiangxi Military District. The Third Sub-district oversaw the military departments of four counties—Huichang, Xunwu, Anyuan, and Wuping—as well as a guerrilla brigade. It successively established a Red Army school, an arms factory, and a hospital. The Secretary of the Huixun’an Central County Committee also served as the Political Commissar of the Third Sub-district. Commanders included Zhong Yaqing, Lü Chishui, and Yang Yuebin, while the Director of the Political Department was Zhang Yunyi. The command headquarters were successively located in Dongliu and Guikeng of Wuping, Luotang of Xunwu, Changling and Furongzhai of Yunmenling in Huichang.

After its establishment, the Third Sub-district led the military and civilians of the Fujian–Guangdong–Jiangxi border region. Based on the actual conditions of the southern front, it actively carried out guerrilla and mobile warfare, effectively blocking and containing the Guangdong Army’s attacks on the Central Soviet Area. It destroyed the fortified bases of the landlord militias and achieved victory on the southeastern front during the Fourth Counter-Encirclement Campaign. In April 1933, following orders from the Central Revolutionary Military Commission, the Third and Fifth Sub-districts of the Jiangxi Military District were merged. The Yuegan Military District was established at Furongzhai in Yunmenling (the former headquarters of the Third Sub-district), unifying the military command of the southern front of the Central Soviet Area.

The Former Site of the Third Sub-district of the Jiangxi Military District and the Former Site of its Arms Factory are located in Furongzhai of Yunmenling and Shiba of Zhoutian, respectively. They are largely well-preserved. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, during the land reform period, these sites were allocated to local farmers for residential use.
