The Memorial Park of the Starting Point of the Long March by the Central Red Army is located on the eastern section of Duchang Avenue in Yudu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. It was formerly known as the Monument Park of the First Crossing of the Central Red Army during the Long March.

In 2009, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Central Red Army’s departure from Yudu to begin the Long March, the Yudu County Committee and the Yudu County People’s Government invested nearly ten million yuan to renovate and expand the Monument Park of the First Crossing, aiming to promote the spirit of the Long March and honor the achievements of the revolutionary predecessors. This led to the establishment of the Memorial Park of the Starting Point of the Long March by the Central Red Army. Covering an area of 60 mu, the park consists of a small entrance plaza, a thematic sculpture, an assembly plaza, a memorial plaza, and the Memorial Museum of the Starting Point of the Long March by the Central Red Army. With a green coverage rate of over 85%, the park boasts a beautiful environment and serves as a comprehensive memorial site integrating patriotic education, sightseeing, and leisure activities.

On the east side of the memorial park is the Memorial Museum of the Starting Point of the Long March by the Central Red Army, built in 2004. The museum covers an area of 5.75 mu, with a construction area of 1,100 square meters and two floors of exhibition halls. The displays employ modern methods such as text, charts, photographs, and audiovisual and lighting effects to vividly present the history of the Central Red Army’s departure for the Long March, recreating the great turning point in China’s revolution and the historical scenes of the support provided by the people of the Soviet Area to the Red Army. It is currently the only thematic memorial museum in China dedicated to the history of the Central Red Army’s departure for the Long March.

Since its opening, the memorial park has been visited and guided by leaders of the Party and the state. It has also been designated by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee as a “National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base,” by the State Council as a “Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level,” by the Communist Youth League Central Committee as a “National Youth Education Base,” and by the National Tourism Administration as a “National AAA-Level Tourist Attraction.” The memorial park has become an important venue for promoting the spirit of the Long March and conducting patriotic education. It has been included in the 30 national red tourism classic routes and receives over 300,000 visitors annually.

Gongjiang Town: Gongjiang Town is the location of the county seat of Yudu, where the First Crossing of the Central Red Army during the Long March took place. It is the political, economic, cultural, and educational center of Yudu County, covering a total area of 154.65 square kilometers. The town administers 25 administrative villages and 12 community neighborhood committees, with a total population of 180,875. There are 5 Party general branches, 62 Party branches, and 2,333 Party members in the town, including 37 rural Party branches and 946 rural Party members.
