115,000 more spots added: Tourism Bureau boosts domestic accommodation discounts

The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announcedthat the “Domestic Travel Accommodation Discount” subsidy campaign will add 115,000 more subsidy spots, with applications open until November 30, and encouraged the public to visit thededicated campaign websiteto apply and book accommodations. However, additional theme park coupons will not be provided at this time.

Since its launch on the 20th, up to the morning of the 28th, the “Domestic Travel Accommodation Discount” campaign had received applications for serial numbers from 1.19 million people. Approximately 205,000 people had actually completed their bookings and secured subsidy spots, leaving about 25,000 subsidy spots remaining. After evaluation, the Tourism Bureau decided to make one final increase in spots and will stop accepting serial number applications at 12:00 noon on November 30.

The Tourism Bureau stated that due to the campaign period coinciding with consecutive holidays such as Christmas, New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year, and 228 Peace Memorial Day, the public has shown strong enthusiasm in booking accommodations, with many popular destination operators reporting that rooms during these holidays have been fully booked or are over 80% occupied. The Tourism Bureau will stop accepting subsidy serial number applications at 12:00 noon on November 30. Those who have obtained serial numbers must inform participating accommodations of their serial number and complete the booking before February 29, 2024, and check in to enjoy the subsidy benefits.

Currently, accommodations still have available rooms during non-holiday periods or at some scenic areas and urban locations. There are also available rooms in outlying islands and the six major metropolitan areas during holiday periods. It is recommended that those who have obtained serial numbers consider traveling on weekdays or planning itineraries in urban areas when making subsequent accommodation bookings. This can help avoid crowds and make it easier to secure a booking.
