Super cool floating blue bed & fitness-equipped boutique hotel

HowToTrip Boutique Leisure Hotel is located in Linkou and is one of the premium hotels recommended by New Taipei City Government. With the upcoming opening of the Airport MRT Line, the Linkou New Town area has become increasingly vibrant. The advantage of staying in a hotel here is that prices are generally affordable while rooms offer generous space. Recently, the area gained a new Ambassador Theatre along with other chain stores moving in. If you’re looking for a short getaway not far from Taipei, Linkou makes a great choice.

The hotel has 8 floors — the 8th floor is for parking; the 7th floor houses business suites and a business center; the 6th floor features “Inclined Heart” suites and a gym, the 5th floor has “Trendy Inclined Heart” suites; the 3rd floor offers “Journey of Forgetfulness” suites; the 2nd floor includes “Fun Enjoyment” suites and a restaurant; the 1st floor contains “Tipsy Charm” suites, the front desk, reception, and a café. This introduction focuses on 4 main parts: Room 202, thoughtful amenities, dining, and the gym.

Room 202
The room is designed as a blue floating bed suite, with an all-blue ambiance that feels mysterious and romantic. The so-called floating bed actually has no visible support underneath the mattress, yet it's very stable. It’s a standard double bed, and there are power outlets by the headboard for convenient phone charging.

The room includes a small living area divided by a rotatable TV wall — one side holds the bed, the other the living space. The bathroom is especially spacious, featuring both a bathtub and a shower. Next to the bathroom is a uniquely designed small room full of mirrors with a reclining chair bed in the center.

The mini living room comes with karaoke facilities available during designated hours. There are leather sofas, a karaoke songbook on the table, and two microphones for use. If singing isn’t your thing, you can watch TV with access to diverse channels such as MOD and VOD — all with clear picture quality.

The bathroom is split into two sections: the left side is the shower area, and the right is the bathtub area. A key feature is the ability to watch TV while soaking in the tub. The shower includes a steam SPA function — just be careful not to get burned. Towels and hair styling products are placed near the tub. When taking a bath, remember to pull the curtain down to avoid any accidental exposure.

In terms of toiletries, there are two small towels, two large bath towels, one bath sponge, and a very elastic shark clip — perfect for long-haired guests. Especially thoughtful items include portable mouthwash sachets and saline solution bottles — truly considerate touches. For female guests, there’s also a full set of hair and skincare products: shampoo, conditioner, makeup remover, and moisturizer, so no worries about removing makeup or caring for hair post-shower.

Unlike traditional hotels, motels usually offer a rich assortment of snacks. The basic setup here includes two bowls of instant noodles, at least two packs of cookies, drink powders, and the fridge always has at least two bottles of drinks or mineral water. Near the snack cabinet, there's a closet where you can hang up to two garments — perfect for coats too.

Thoughtful Amenities
The garage door at HowToTrip has a uniquely thoughtful design. Normally, garage door switches are placed either too high or inside the garage, but here the switch is conveniently located right beside the garage entrance, making it easy for guests to enter or exit the garage smoothly and comfortably.

Gym

The gym at HowToTrip is equipped with all the basics — treadmills, stationary bikes, and even spacewalk machines. Though not crowded, it’s a great place to enjoy some alone time working out.

Dining
The restaurant operates on a buffet basis, offering both Western and Chinese meals. Basic options include salad, toast, hot milk, hot soy milk, and cereal. For Chinese dishes, there are pork rice, congee, and steamed buns. Hot dishes include fried sunny-side-up eggs, seasonal stir-fried vegetables, bacon, and sausages. There’s also a good selection of pickles such as meat floss, salted duck eggs, and pickled cucumbers.
