Xiamen Yunding Mountain

Yunding Mountain is located in the northernmost part of Tong'an District, Xiamen City, within the territory of Tingxi Town, Tong'an District, bordering Anxi County and Nan'an County, with boundary markers erected on the mountain.

Yunding Mountain is the highest peak in both Tong'an District and Xiamen City. The summit is often shrouded in clouds, hence the name "Yunding" (Cloud Summit). It echoes the name of Yunding Rock, the highest peak on Xiamen Island. In winter, the temperature on Yunding Mountain is usually about 5 degrees Celsius lower than at the foot of the mountain. When cold waves affect Xiamen, the temperature on Yunding Mountain often drops below minus three degrees Celsius. Frost frequently forms on the mountain.

Yunding Mountain covers an area of approximately 9 square kilometers and stretches from north to south. Its southern part is gentle, while the northern part is steep, composed of granite porphyry. The mountain is rich in water sources, with numerous streams, which converge into the Tingxi River in the south. A "Three Boundaries Marker" stands on Yunding Mountain. This site is not only a destination for hikers and explorers but also a place with profound cultural heritage. From late March to early April each year, the mountain is covered with blooming azaleas, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the scenery and explore local culture.
