Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is a well-established commercial street in Xiamen, lined with arcade buildings featuring the architectural style of southern Fujian. In addition to large department stores such as China City, Paris Spring Department Store, and Laiya Department Store, you can also find nearly all of Xiamen’s specialties here, including pastries and cured meats. It’s a must-visit spot for shopping and picking up gifts in Xiamen. The street features comprehensive commercial shopping centers such as China City, Paris Spring Department Store, and Laiya Department Store, offering a full range of clothing, shoes, and bags from various brands, in a high-end and comfortable environment. It’s a top shopping destination for locals in Xiamen. Meanwhile, many tourists come here to select Xiamen specialties such as pastries, tea, and meat floss as souvenirs to take home. Popular choices include pastries and tea from Miss Zhao’s Shop, dried meats from Huang Shengji, and pineapple cakes from Huang Yuantang. BabyCat Private Home Bakery and Chen's Western Tea House—both very famous shops on Gulangyu Island—now also have branches on Zhongshan Road. If you didn’t get enough on the island, you can stop by here before heading home to pick up more.

Special Tips

There are many stalls along the street labeled “Taiwan” or “Fujian-Taiwan,” most of which sell inauthentic so-called Taiwanese goods. It’s recommended to simply ignore them.

1. Take Bus 959 from Jimei School Village and get off at Shuangshi Middle School Zhenhai Campus Station, then walk about 620 meters to reach the destination;

2. Walk from Jimei School Village to Jimei Railway Station, take Bus 655 and get off at Sibei Intersection Station, then walk about 880 meters to reach the destination;

3. Taking a taxi costs approximately 40 RMB.
