Twelve Caves Heaven

Twelve Caves Heaven is an attraction within Shuzhuang Garden.

Also known as the "Monkey Cave," it is an artificial rockery built from multicolored sandstone, conglomerate, and gravel, consisting of 12 cave chambers. These are numbered according to the 12 Earthly Branches and also correspond to the 12 zodiac animals, hence the name "Twelve Caves Heaven."

"Twelve Caves Heaven" is a man-made network of caves that resembles a monkey’s den. Because visitors often get lost inside trying to find their way out, it is also called the "Maze Cave." The Twelve Caves Heaven consists of 12 chambers named after the Earthly Branches. The caves vary in size and shape, with winding paths that go up and down and twist around, creating a labyrinthine and mysterious experience.

Transportation

The attraction is located within Shuzhuang Garden.

Take the ferry to Piano Pier, then walk along Longtou Road. Pass by Bank of China, Zhang Sanfeng Milk Tea, Xinhua Bookstore, and Huang Shengji Meat Shop. At the four-way intersection, find Huanggan Road where Mango Mango is located. Walk uphill, then turn right. Pass Gulangyu Concert Hall and Xiami Hall, then turn left at the entrance of the People’s Stadium. Turn left onto Zhonghua Road, pass Xinyu Restaurant, Phoenix Boutique, Gulangyu Cadre Sanatorium, and Sea Garden Hotel. Walk downhill, and on your left you’ll find the entrance to Shuzhuang Garden.
