Yundang Lake

Originally known as Yundang Port, Xiamen's Yundang Lake is located in Xiamen City and was once connected to the sea. Later, through land reclamation projects, the West Dyke from Fuyu Islet to Dongdu was constructed, turning Yundang Port into an inland lake with a water area of 1.7 square kilometers. Yundang Lake is like a crystal-clear, glistening ribbon that almost stretches across the entire city of Xiamen, while the small island in the center of the lake resembles a shining pearl nestled within Yundang Lake. During the day, flocks of egrets take flight from the island in the middle of the lake, and the clear waters reflect their graceful forms along with the tall, majestic modern buildings along the lakeshore, creating a beautiful watercolor painting.
