Fanpo Building

The Fanpo Building features a unique design as a two-story red-brick structure with arched corridors. The Rococo elements blend seamlessly and harmoniously with traditional Chinese craftsmanship, which is quite rare among the villas on Gulangyu Island. Films such as *Autumn in Spring* and *The Earth Building Family* were shot here. The Fanpo Building is located at No. 36 Anhai Road. It was built in 1927 by Xu Jingquan, an overseas Chinese from Fujian who lived in the Philippines, as a tribute to his mother. The Fanpo Building is currently not open to the public. The best view of it can be enjoyed from the neighboring Gushanqi. However, having changed hands several times and fallen into the wrong ownership, the building now shows signs of regrettable disrepair.
