Xiamen Island

The fourth largest island in Fujian Province, Xiamen Island is located at the mouth of the Jiulong River in southern Fujian. Originally an island, it later became connected to the mainland after the construction of the Jimei and Xinglin seawalls, turning it into a peninsula. The port area is surrounded by scattered islands, while the harbor itself is embraced by surrounding mountains, featuring wide and deep waters that remain ice-free year-round—making it a naturally superior strait harbor.
