Wenzeng Road

Wenzeng Road is located in the southwest of Xiamen Island, stretching 5.33 kilometers from north to south. Its northern end intersects with Xiahe Road and Houdaixi Road, then follows Wenzhen Road, passes through the Yuping Mountain pass, runs along the western side of Shangli Reservoir, and extends down to Zengcuo. The southern end connects with the Huandao Road. The area it traverses features a terrain that is lower on both sides and higher in the middle, with a relative elevation difference of about 80 meters. The road connects with existing urban roads in Xiamen at both ends, while the middle section passes through the Yuping Mountain pass. It is Xiamen’s first transportation artery and eco-tourism scenic road that crosses the Wanshi Mountain National Scenic Area. Designed based on the principles of harmony with nature and human-centered planning, Wenzeng Road is situated in the city yet filled with the charm of mountain forests. Scenic views are abundant yet seamlessly integrated, with the road blending naturally into the surroundings. It represents a commendable effort in achieving harmony between highway construction and the natural environment. By effectively combining practicality, artistry, and ecology, the road forms a “linear garden,” which some cultural figures in Xiamen have likened to “a piece of land art.”
