Lin Qiaozhi Memorial Hall
The Lin Qiaozhi Memorial Hall is located in Yuyuan Garden on Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. It can be accessed from Zhangzhou Road or Fuxing Road on the side of Haoyue Garden. The hall commemorates Dr. Lin Qiaozhi, a renowned contemporary Chinese obstetrician and gynecologist.
This highly respected doctor was born in 1901 in a "small Bafen Building" on Huangyan Road on Gulangyu Island. She passed away in 1983. The following year, the people of Gulangyu built the Lin Qiaozhi Memorial Hall and a statue in her honor within Yuyuan Garden to commemorate this ordinary yet great woman.
The Lin Qiaozhi Memorial Hall is situated next to the statue of Lin Qiaozhi in Yuyuan Garden. Although the memorial hall is not large, it provides ample insight into the life of this great obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Lin Qiaozhi dedicated her entire life to China’s medical field. She founded the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital and also served as the director of Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. She delivered over 50,000 babies, and countless lives came into the world through her caring hands.
