Xiamen Firefly Park

The Firefly Theme Park is China's first low-carbon, environmentally friendly and energy-saving education base themed around fireflies. Through artificial breeding techniques, the park has cultivated tens of thousands of fireflies. It is primarily aimed at youths under the age of 16, offering both energy-saving science education and family leisure tourism.

The park is composed of three sections: the Firefly Environmental Classroom, the Firefly Ecological Exhibition Room, and the Firefly Observation Trail. In the Firefly Environmental Classroom, children learn about the life cycle of fireflies and the impact of environmental degradation on them through an educational film. In the ecological exhibition room, kids can even touch aquatic fireflies with their hands. Finally, along the Firefly Observation Trail — where there are no bright street lights — children can see swarms of fireflies flying in the air.

Special Notes

1. The attraction is temporarily closed; the reopening date is to be determined.

2. The Firefly Theme Park is open to children under the age of 16 free of charge from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM every night during the months of June to September. Children must be accompanied by at least one guardian. Admission is limited to 300 visitors per day, and advance reservations are required. Adults are not allowed to enter alone.

Transportation

1. Bus Routes: Take Tourist Line 2 (Train Station – Xiamen University Student Apartment) and get off at the East Gate of the Botanical Garden, then walk about 300 meters to Yiqing Valley; or take Bus 87, 531, or 2, get off at the terminus Shangli Station, and walk up Wenzeng Road to reach Yiqing Valley, approximately 300 meters.

2. Tourist Line 2 stops running relatively early. By car, the Firefly Park is located between the East Gate of the Botanical Garden and Shangli Station, and there is parking available.
