The Maritime Pearl
Located on Hubin Huxi Mountain in the eastern part of Xiamen, the Maritime Pearl Tower combines the roles of meteorological disaster monitoring, science education, tourism, and night scenery viewing. It features a national-level intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall and a 360-degree panoramic observation deck that offers sweeping views of the Sea Garden. The tower has a vase-like shape with 19 floors and was completed in December 2004. With its top reaching an altitude of 195 meters, it is the first steel structure building put into use in Xiamen. The podium houses astronomy and meteorology science exhibition halls as well as an astronomical movie theater. The light green tempered glass exterior enhances the tower's elegant appearance, while modern photoelectric technology makes it a stunning highlight of Xiamen’s nightlife. The radar dome at the top resembles a shining pearl when viewed from afar. Today, the tower has become an iconic landmark of Xiamen.
