The Site of the Former First-Class Post Office of the Qing Dynasty in Xiamen is a cultural relic protection unit of Xiamen City.

In Xiamen, opposite the ferry terminal, there stands an old-style building flanked on one side by a small Western-style house and on the other by towering modern skyscrapers. This is the “Site of the Former First-Class Post Office of the Qing Dynasty in Xiamen,” which has been designated as a cultural relic protection unit by the Xiamen Municipal Government and is now the “Haihou Road Post and Telecommunications Sub-bureau.”

The post office was founded in the 23rd year of the Guangxu reign (1897 AD), originally named the “Xiamen Great Qing General Post Office.” In the 3rd year of the Xuantong reign, just before the establishment of the Republic of China, it was renamed the “Xiamen First-Class Post Office.” This historic post office retains the architectural style of Western-style buildings from the foreign concessions of the late Qing Dynasty.
