Chen Wenque and Chen Liushi Exhibition Hall

The Chen Wenque and Chen Liushi Exhibition Hall is built on the foundation of Wenque Building. Located within the Jimei School Village scenic area, it stands right across the street from the Tan Kah Kee Memorial Hall. The exhibition hall is dedicated to commemorating the life stories and achievements of Mr. Chen Wenque and Mr. Chen Liushi. It consists of two floors, plus a small room 0 (currently used as a meeting room and screening hall).

Chen Wenque (1886–1966), originally from Jimei Village, Rende Li, attended a local village school in his youth. In the 28th year of the Guangxu reign (1902), both of his parents died of plague, and Wenque had to drop out of school to make a living by fishing. Later, he migrated to Singapore (then known as "Sincere") and worked for over ten years in enterprises operated by Tan Kah Kee.

In the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), Chen Wenque and his younger brother Liushi jointly founded Yihé Rubber Company. Thanks to effective management, by the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), the company had grown into an enterprise group integrating rubber planting, processing, manufacturing, and trade export, ranking among the top in the rubber industry of Singapore and Malaysia. Chen Liushi (1897–1972), born in Jimei Village, Rende Li, Tong’an, came from a poor farming and fishing family with seven brothers. Being the sixth child, he was named Liushi (“Sixth Son”).

Chen Liushi lost both parents to illness when he was five years old. As a child, he attended Jimei School. In the 3rd year of the Republic of China (1914), he followed his elder brother to Singapore, initially working at the Qianyi Rubber Factory owned by Tan Kah Kee. In the 12th year of the Republic of China (1923), he co-founded Lianhe Rubber Company with his brothers Wenque, Wenzhang, and Kedou. In the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), he also co-established Yihé Rubber Company with his brother Wenque and served as general manager.
