Jimei Chapel

The Jimei Church had a congregation as early as 1917. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was bombed by the Japanese invaders, so worship services were held in believers' homes. Services were suspended during the Cultural Revolution. After the reform and opening-up, Mr. Chen Yonghe, an overseas Chinese from Singapore, learned about the church's situation and offered his historic house for church use.

Chen Yonghe’s mother had been spiritually moved in her early years, hoping that when her descendants prospered, they would build a church for Jimei. Learning of his mother’s wish, Mr. Chen fulfilled her legacy. In 1993, with the support of municipal and district governments and donations from overseas Chinese, construction began. The Jimei Church was completed and handed over in the same year. The Jimei congregation resumed services in the rebuilt church.
