In Hong Benbu Lane near Kaihe Road, some houses stand out — they are built of stone, with distinctive patterns at the base of the walls. At No. 33 Hong Benbu Lane, the gate is locked, but a stone tablet is embedded in the wall, inscribed with “The Qing Dynasty: Record of the Reconstruction of Hong Benbu Ferry Wharf.”

The lane is named after Hong Xu, a valiant general of Zheng Chenggong. In the fourth year of the Yongli era of the Southern Ming Dynasty (1650), Hong Xu established the “Ministry of War Office” here, abbreviated as the “Benbu Hall,” hence the name “Hong Benbu.” It also houses the ancestral shrine and residence of Hong Xu.

Address: Hong Benbu Lane, Siming District, Xiamen City. One end connects to Kaihe Road, and the other to Ci’an Road.
