Fuzhou University

Fuzhou University is a key institution under China’s national “211 Project” and is jointly established by the People’s Government of Fujian Province and the Ministry of Education of China. Founded in 1958, it has grown into a comprehensive university with a focus on engineering and a balanced integration of science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art.

The university has multiple campuses, including those in Fuzhou’s Qishan, Yishan, and Tongpan, as well as in Xiamen’s Jimei and Gulangyu, and Quanzhou’s Quangang and Jinjiang, covering a total area of over 7,000 acres. Its main campus is located in Qishan within the Fuzhou University Town, New University District, with a total public building area of more than 1.23 million square meters and sports facilities spanning over 140,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets exceeds 3.3 billion yuan, including over 1 billion yuan worth of teaching and research equipment. The library houses a collection of more than 3.22 million volumes and 2.27 million e-books. Its network center hosts the main node of the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) in Fuzhou.

The university comprises 19 colleges primarily dedicated to full-time undergraduate and graduate education, along with one independent college. It currently has one national key discipline, one national key (cultivation) discipline, five provincial-level advantageous discipline innovation platforms, six provincial-level featured key disciplines, and 26 provincial-level key disciplines. Three disciplines—Chemistry, Engineering, and Materials Science—rank in the top 1% of the global ESI rankings. The university operates 11 postdoctoral research stations, 10 first-level doctoral degree programs, three second-level doctoral degree programs (not covered by first-level programs), 36 first-level master's degree programs, seven second-level master's degree programs (not covered by first-level programs), and 12 professional degree authorization points (including 23 engineering fields under the Master of Engineering program). There are 78 undergraduate majors offered.
