Zhongshan Site

The Zhongshan Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Neolithic Zhongshan Site is located on Zhongshan Hill in Wushan Village, Xinxu Town. Zhongshan Hill has a relative height of about 50 meters, stretching approximately 400 meters from east to west and 200 meters from north to south. In March 1973, local farmers discovered a —— while clearing land in the Shanzibei burial area, which was handed over to the Cultural Relics Management Committee Office of Tong’an County in August 1981. The —— is tongue-shaped, measuring 13.3 cm in total length, 6.6 cm in width, and 0.9 cm in thickness. It has a circular hole at the top with a diameter of 0.6 cm. The blade is relatively wide, and the angle at the tip is slightly larger. Made of grayish-white shale, it is finely polished. In 1987, the Fujian Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Team collected two broken stone tools, one broken pottery ring foot, and 36 pieces including grey stamped hard pottery and grey stamped earthenware shards from the eastern and western slopes. These artifacts serve as physical evidence for studying the living conditions of humans during the Neolithic Age.

Wushan Village: The Wushan administrative village comprises five natural villages—Wushan (Tianbian, Gongzaiwei), Shanggong, Xiazengwei, Qianshan, and Songguanyuan—and 18 villager groups, covering a total land area of 7,403 mu, with 1,191 households and a population of 3,698. In 2008, the total economic income was 27.86 million yuan, and the per capita income was 5,684 yuan.
