The Wang Ancestral Hall of Ou'cuo

The Wang Ancestral Hall of Ou'cuo is located south of the Ou'cuo Market in the Ou'cuo Community, Xindian Town. It was first built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty and renovated in 1993. The structure faces south with a slight eastward orientation, consisting of two sections — front and rear — with a central courtyard and side corridors. It is 10.5 meters wide and 17.5 meters deep, covering an area of approximately 183.75 square meters. The front section is three bays wide, with the central bay featuring a recessed porch. Each side is fitted with blue stone lattice windows, and the door is adorned with a plaque inscribed “Wang Ancestral Hall.” The rear of the front section is a corridor with a gable and hip roof and double swallowtail ridges. The rear section is the main hall, three bays wide (10.5 meters) and three bays deep (11.2 meters), with an interior height of 4.9 meters. It has a post-and-lintel beam frame, a gable and hip roof, and swallowtail ridges, with the ridge apex decorated with ceramic cutouts of figures and flowers. Inside the hall, there are plaques inscribed “Imperial Examination Graduate,” dated “Qianlong Ji-Chou Year, Erected by Imperial Examination Graduate Wang Ruifeng,” and “Major General of the Army,” dated “Erected by Anti-Japanese Hero Wang Bangshi.” The courtyard and interior of the rear hall preserve stone components such as Qing Dynasty column bases.

Ou'cuo Community: Ou'cuo Village Committee: Located in the southern part of the town. It administers three natural villages: Ou'cuo, Hemei, and Xiaoxiang. During the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Ou'cuo Bao in Xiangfeng Li. In 1943, it was part of Ou'cuo Bao in Zhennan Township. In 1950, it was placed under Ou'cuo Township in the Fifth District. In 1955, it came under Hongzhong District, and in 1959, it was part of Ou'cuo Brigade under Xindian Commune. In 1984, it was renamed the Ou'cuo Committee, under Xindian Township, and in 1987, it came under Xindian Town.

Ou'cuo: Located 7.5 kilometers south of the former town government seat. Legend says it was originally inhabited by the Ou family, hence the name Ou'cuo. Nowadays, most villagers have the surname Wang.
