Puyou Palace

Puyou Palace, commonly known as the Prince Rong Mansion Temple. It is located in the central southern part of Quefeng in Shamei Natural Village, Shamei Community, Xindian Town. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era and renovated in 1987, the temple faces north and consists of two halls—front and rear. The main hall is connected by a covered square pavilion with a rolled roof, spanning 15 meters in width and 11.8 meters in total depth, covering an area of approximately 440 square meters, with a built-up area of 177 square meters. The front section features a concave-shaped porch, with the central main gate flanked by side gates. It has three bays in width and two in depth, featuring a post-and-lintel beam structure, a flush-gable roof, and swallowtail ridges. The rear section is the main hall, which is primarily three bays wide (8 meters) and three pillars deep (6.8 meters). The couplet on the pillars beside the shrine reads: “Bestow universal mercy under imperial decree, patrol with awe-inspiring might; safeguard the people, lead with divine power, propagate the grand dharma.” It uses a raised-beam frame structure, a flush-gable roof, and swallowtail ridges. The main hall enshrines the Deity of the Chi Mansion, Chi Ran, along with the Black-Faced Holy Ancestor of Clear Water. On the eastern side is a row of wing rooms, each three bays wide. The temple preserves Ming Dynasty lotus-petal-patterned steps and inverted-basin-style column bases. The spacious area in front of the temple features a large stage at the front.

Shamei Community: Shamei Village Committee: Located in the eastern part of Xindian Town. It administers Shamei Natural Village. Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era, the Peng clan from Wensha Bao in Jinmen’s 17th District migrated here, naming the village after their original place, Shawei, which was later refined to Shamei. It comprises nine villager groups, with a population of about 2,000, mostly surnamed Peng. The village committee is stationed in Shamei Village and is named after the resident village. During the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Penglai Bao in Min'an Li. In 1943, it was part of Shamei Bao under Renfeng Township. In 1950, it came under Shamei Township in the Sixth District, then in 1955, under Hongzhong District. In 1959, it was called Shamei Brigade, under Xindian Commune.
