Kulangsu Gulang Cave

Gulang Cave is located on the southwest coast of Gulangyu Island, right by the shore in front of the "Gulang Villas." It is a weathered rock cave that has been eroded and hollowed out by ocean waves over thousands of years.

During high tides, when the wind is strong and the waves are high, the crashing waves produce thunderous roars as they hit the cave — hence the name "Gulang" (meaning "Drum Waves"). This rocky outcrop extends about 20 meters. The cave is around 3 meters high and over 1 meter wide.

Atop the cave is a 1-meter-tall, bowl-thick acacia tree, referred to as the "antique tree." It tenaciously takes root in the crevices of the weathered rock, adding vitality to "Gulang Cave."
