Huang’s Ancestral Hall on Gulangyu Island is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Huang’s Ancestral Hall on Gulangyu Island is located on Gulangyu Island in Siming District, Xiamen City, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Built during the Qing Dynasty, it is a small courtyard complex facing southwest to northeast. The compound includes a central ancestral hall and single-story buildings in the rear courtyard, with left and right passageways running through. The main gate of the front courtyard is situated in the middle of the front wall, with the original stone plaque “Huang’s Ancestral Hall” preserved on the granite door frame. The overall width of the courtyard is 12 meters, with a total depth of 22 meters, covering an area of approximately 264 square meters. The ancestral hall is constructed in the traditional Minnan brick-and-wood style, with a width of three bays (7 meters) and a depth of two bays (8 meters). It features a transverse front porch with two carved stone column bases under the projecting eave columns on the left and right. The main hall has a post-and-lintel wooden frame, a flush gable roof, and swallowtail ridges.

Protected area: The building is protected within a zone extending 20 meters outward from its perimeter.

In 2018, Huang’s Ancestral Hall on Gulangyu Island was designated as part of the ninth batch of Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
