The British Presbyterian Missionary Residence on Gulangyu Island is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The British Presbyterian Missionary Residence on Gulangyu Island is located on Gulangyu Island in Siming District, Xiamen City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: It was once the residence of missionary Rev. William Campbell of the English Presbyterian Mission. Rev. Campbell arrived in Xiamen in the 30th year of the Daoguang reign (1850) during the Qing Dynasty and co-founded the English Presbyterian Mission with Rev. William Chalmers Burns. In the 24th year of the Guangxu reign (1898), he founded the Anglo-Chinese College on Gulangyu Island. This building is a two-story colonial veranda-style structure with three-centered arches on its veranda arcades, and its exterior is painted red.

Protected area: East to Fuzhou Road, south to the boundary wall of Gulangyu Art Kindergarten, west and north to the boundary wall of Bishan Primary School.

In 2018, the British Presbyterian Missionary Residence on Gulangyu Island was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
