The former site of the CPC Tong’an County Committee is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The former site of the CPC Tong’an County Committee is located in Shanting Natural Village, Shanting Community, Maxiang Town, Xiang'an District, Xiamen City, dating back to the years 1928–1935.

Description: Originally the Ancestral Hall of the Chen Clan of Yingchuan, it was first built during the Song Dynasty, rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty, and later repurposed as the site of Houting Primary School. The structure is made of earth, wood, brick, and stone, covering an area of approximately 280 square meters, and includes front and rear main buildings. After the “April 12” counter-revolutionary coup in 1927, the CPC organization in Tong’an County was disrupted. The Provisional CPC Fujian Provincial Committee dispatched Zhou Shaoliang to Tong’an, where he served as the principal of Houting Primary School to restore party activities. In the spring of 1928, the Provisional CPC Tong’an County Committee was secretly established here. From 1928 to 1935, it served as the headquarters of the CPC Tong’an County Committee.

In 2018, the former site of the CPC Tong’an County Committee was announced by the People’s Government of Fujian Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.

Protected area: Extend 15 meters outward from the east, west, and south exterior walls, and north to the highway.

Shanting Community: Shanting Village Committee: Located in the southwest of the town, it administers five natural villages: Shanhou Ting, Dian Ding, Hou Guo, Pu Tou, and Xia Bian. It has 12 villager groups, 898 households, and a population of 3,836. It belonged to Fenghou Bao of Xiangfeng Li. In 1943, it was part of Xin Ting Bao of Hou Mu Xiang. In 1950, it was part of Shanting Xiang under the Fifth District. In 1959, it was called Shanting Brigade, under Maxiang Commune. In 1961, Xiangnan Commune was split off, and in 1964, it came under Dongkeng Commune. In 1969, it returned to Maxiang Commune. In 1984, it was renamed Shanting Village Committee, under Houbin Xiang.
