The former site of the Great Northern Telegraph Company is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The former site of the Great Northern Telegraph Company is located on Tianwei Road, Gulangyu Subdistrict, Siming District, Xiamen City, dating back to 1869.

Description: Facing south-southwest, it is a single-story Western-style brick and stone structure with a rectangular floor plan, measuring 32 meters east-west and 20 meters north-south. The foundation is made of granite stones, and the walls are red brick with plaster finish. The flat roof features four protruding chimneys, and there are arched corridors on both the south and north sides. An internal passageway on the east side connects the southern and northern corridors. In 1869, the Kingdom of Denmark established a consulate on Gulangyu, operated by the Great Northern Company, which built a telegraph office and laid submarine cables connecting Xiamen to Shanghai and Hong Kong. In April 1874, it illegally began transmitting and receiving telegrams.

In 2013, the former site of the Great Northern Telegraph Company was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: West to Tianwei Road, east and south to enclosing walls, extending 15 meters northward.
