The former site of the British Consulate General on Gulangyu Island is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The former site of the British Consulate General on Gulangyu Island is located on Zhangzhou Road, Gulangyu Subdistrict, Siming District, Xiamen City, dating back to 1847.

Description: In 1843, the United Kingdom established the British Consular Office in Gulangyu, and in 1847, the consulate building was constructed. It consists of a perimeter wall, a courtyard, and a single-story Western-style white building with a semi-underground damp-proof layer. The building faces southeast and is situated northwest, with a slightly L-shaped floor plan. It has a depth of about 50 meters and a width of about 26 meters. In 1870, two small rooms were added on the northeast side. The front and west sides are surrounded by spacious arcaded colonnades, with a central passage connecting the main gate and flanked by rooms and halls. The roof features red tiles with a sloped design and is equipped with two chimneys.

In 2013, the former site of the British Consulate General on Gulangyu Island was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
