The Yonggong Building Complex

The Yonggong Building Complex is located at No. 1 Jiageng Road, Jimei, and includes the Jiweng Building, Yonggong Building, Chongjian Building, and Kerang Building. The complex is built on a hillside and is arranged in an approximately straight line following the terrain, with the school sports field situated at the base of the hill.

Jiweng Building: Completed in April 1921, it originally served as a teaching building for Jimei Middle School. After the victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, it was converted into a teaching building for the Advanced Aquatic Products School. It was damaged twice by Kuomintang artillery fire in 1949, just before and shortly after the liberation of Jimei. It was restored in 1951 and now serves as a teaching building for the Navigation College of Jimei University.

Yonggong Building: Completed in August 1923, it originally served as a teaching building for the Aquatic Products Department of Jimei. During the War of Resistance against Japan, it was damaged by Japanese aircraft bombings and was restored by the end of 1945. It now functions as the office building for the Navigation College of Jimei University.

The building faces east and is constructed with brick and stone. It has four floors and a construction area of 3,739 square meters. The floor plan features a front corridor layout. The central sections of the first to third floors have semi-circular protruding open corridors supported by six Roman columns. The first and second floors feature arched corridors, while the third and fourth floors have square corridors. The roof is flat and paved with red bricks. The exterior walls are mainly painted white, with Baroque-style decorations on the column capitals, window lintels, and railings.

Chongjian Building: Completed in February 1926, it originally served as a teaching building for Jimei Commercial School. It was damaged by Japanese aircraft bombings during the War of Resistance against Japan and was restored in 1946, after which it became a teaching building for Jimei Aquatic and Navigation School. It currently serves as a student dormitory for the Navigation College of Jimei University.

The building faces east and is a three-story brick-and-wood structure with double corner towers. It has a construction area of 1,364 square meters. The current layout features a front corridor design, with the gate tower, corner towers, and three-story corridor all having arched corridors. The roof is a hard hip roof with three upturned ridges, the ridge ends shaped like swallow tails, and the roofing covered with green glass tiles. The corner towers have flat roofs paved with red bricks. The main structure is supported by red exposed brick walls, with granite used for decorative inlays. The corner towers are predominantly painted white. The corner towers, gate tower, columns, and railings all feature Western-style decorations.

Kerang Building: Built in 1950, it originally served as a teaching building for Jimei Aquatic and Navigation School and now functions as a student dormitory for the Navigation College of Jimei University.

The building faces east and has three floors, with a construction area of 1,749 square meters. The floor plan follows a front corridor layout, and a hexagonal passageway is located on the eastern side. The exterior walls are built with brick and stone, while the interior is of brick-and-wood construction. It has a double-pitched Western-style roof, paved with red machine-made flat tiles. The gables and railings feature Western-style decorations, and the corner pillars are adorned with "brick-in-stone" designs.
