The Site of the Martial Arts Pavilion is a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Xiamen.

The Site of the Martial Arts Pavilion is located within Xiamen University at No. 422 Siming South Road, Siming District. It is a municipal-level cultural heritage site dating back to the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

Protected area: the entire sports field of Xiamen University.

Zheng Chenggong, originally named Sen and childhood name Fusong, with the courtesy name Damu and pseudonym Mingyan, was born on July 14, 1624, in Hirado, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, to parents from Shijing, Nan’an. His father was Zheng Zhilong and his mother was the daughter of the Tagawa family from Hirado, Nagasaki. In the third year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty (1630), when Zheng Chenggong was 7 years old, he returned from Japan to Anping (now Anhai Town, Jinjiang) to study, and was given the name Sen.

At the age of 11, Zheng Chenggong once wrote an essay on the topic assigned by his tutor, “Sweeping, Greeting, Responding, Advancing, and Retreating,” composing the striking line, “The military campaigns of Tang and Wu were just like sweeping; the abdications of Yao and Shun were merely advancing and retreating.” He later immersed himself in the study of the classics, history, and military strategy. … More details about Zheng Chenggong ++
