The Tongshan Stone Characters are a cultural relic protection unit of Tong’an District.

The Tongshan Stone Characters are located on the rock face behind Meishan Temple in Datong Subdistrict, Tong’an District. They are a county-level cultural relic protection unit dating back to the Song Dynasty.

Protected Area: The area extends 300 meters around the stone characters, and both Meishan Temple and the Meiting Pavilion, which was renovated during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty on the mountain, are included under the same protection.

Datong Subdistrict: Datong Subdistrict covers an area of 19.51 square kilometers, with a registered population of 60,361. It has 9 communities: Tongxin, Xi’an, Sanxiu, Houlu, Xibian, Chengxi, Fengshan, Beimen, and Xichi; and 9 village committees: Tianyang, Guzhuang, Zhaoyuan, Dongshan, Dingxitou, Biyue, Dongzhai, Xiaxitou, and Kangxun.
