Former Site of the Shamei Village Peasants' Association

The former site of the Shamei Village Peasants' Association is a cultural heritage protection unit of Xiang'an District.

The former site of the Shamei Village Peasants' Association is located in Shamei Village, Xindian Town, Xiang'an District. It is a county-level cultural heritage protection unit dating back to 1927.

The site faces west and is a single-courtyard structure with a pebble-walled brick-and-wood design, covering an area of 192 square meters. In February of the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), Communist Party member Peng Youpu founded the peasants' association and the peasants' self-defense army here, and also established a night school to promote revolutionary ideas. In the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), the Shamei Branch of the Chinese Communist Party was established. During the Liberation War, the Central Fujian organization of the CCP set up a branch here, organized guerrilla forces, and supported the struggle to liberate Tong'an. This site is a county-level cultural heritage protection unit.

Xindian Town: Xindian Commune was established in 1959, restructured as a township in 1984, and upgraded to a town in 1987. Located along the southeastern coast of the county, it faces the islands of Xiamen and Kinmen across the sea to the south. Covering an area of 118 square kilometers with a population of 81,000, it is traversed by the Ma (Alley)–Ao (Head) and Shui (Head)–Liu (Five Shops) highways. Liuwu Port is one of Fujian Province’s natural harbors and serves as a berthing point for Taiwanese vessels.
