The Peng Deqing Memorial Room is a classic red tourism attraction.

Pengcuo is one of the revolutionary old base villages in Xiang'an and the hometown of General Peng Deqing. The memorial room was originally the site of Songshan Primary School, an underground activity base for Communists during the revolutionary war years. In 2002, it was converted into the Peng Deqing Memorial Room, displaying materials on General Peng Deqing’s life and achievements, 116 precious photos, and over 50 cultural relics. It also includes a small library and a screening room for the documentary film "Son of the Sea – Peng Deqing."

Pengcuo Community: Pengcuo Village Committee: Located in the southern part of the town. It administers four natural villages: Pengcuo, Houdun, Bucuo, and Qianpu. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the LIPengcai Bao of Xiangfeng Li. In 1943, it was part of the Pengcuo Bao under Zhennan Township. In 1950, it was under Pengcuo Township in the Fifth District. In 1955, it came under Hongzhong District, and in 1959, it was part of the Pengcuo Brigade under Xindian Commune. In 1984, it was renamed Pengcuo Village Committee, under Xindian Township, and in 1987, it came under Xindian Town. It houses the former Tong’an No. 16 Middle School. It is the hometown of General Peng Deqing, former Minister of Communications. Songshan Primary School was an underground activity site of the Chinese Communist Party in the 1930s.
