The "August 23rd Artillery Battle Memorial Site" is located in Hecuo Village, Lianqian Subdistrict, Siming District, and is a municipal-level cultural heritage protection site, dating back to 1958.

The "August 23rd Artillery Battle Memorial Site" is located on the southeastern seashore of Hecuo Village in Xiamen. It is a three-story brick-concrete building facing north, built in the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933) by Indonesian Chinese businessman He Shui, commonly known as the Wanshun Building. The site currently covers an area of approximately 1,120 square meters. On August 23, 1958, the People's Liberation Army and the KMT garrison on Kinmen engaged in the world-famous "August 23rd Artillery Battle." This building suffered severe damage during the battle—concrete slabs from the blown-out balconies on the second and third floors still hang on the exterior facade, and bullet marks on the walls along with shrapnel holes in the flooring remain preserved. To the north of the building are granite air-raid shelters that were used by villagers at the time. This building stands as a witness to the historical events of August 23rd.

Protected area: The protected area extends 15 meters outward from the outer walls of the building; the construction control zone extends an additional 20 meters beyond the protected area boundary.

Lianqian Subdistrict: Established in 1987, Lianqian Subdistrict Office is located in the new urban area of the eastern part of Xiamen Island. It borders the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center to the east, Yunding Rock to the south, Lianban Commercial District to the west, and Wuyuan Bay to the north, facing the Greater and Lesser Kinmen Islands across the water. It is the hometown of the "Heroic Young Eight Routes" and the "Frontline Ten Sisters," who emerged during the 1958 "August 23rd" Artillery Battle, and is also the birthplace of the Chinese Young Pioneers anthem. The subdistrict covers an area of 22.3 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 102,000 and a migrant population of 137,000. It governs 21 community neighborhood committees.
