Jiemei Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The Jiemei Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiemei District.

The Jiemei Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located in Duishan Village, Houxi Town, Jiemei District. The monument and cemetery face southeast and are situated northwest; they cover an area of 650 square meters and are built with granite blocks. The monument stands 7.1 meters tall, with the base measuring 14.1 meters and 12.1 meters on two adjacent sides, while the upper section has sides each 6.1 meters long. The front of the monument is inscribed with six characters in regular script — “Revolutionary Martyrs’ Monument” — handwritten by Ye Fei; the back bears an inscription in regular script commemorating the martyrs. The martyrs’ tomb is constructed in a hemispherical shape using granite, with a diameter of 2 meters. Its square base is divided into upper and lower levels, standing 0.9 meters in total height, with the lower base measuring 4 meters per side and the upper base 2 meters per side. The tomb houses the remains of 81 officers and soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army who sacrificed their lives during the battles to liberate Jiemei and Xiamen between September and October 1949.

Qiaoying Subdistrict: Qiaoying Subdistrict

Established on May 16, 2001, the subdistrict spans an area with its eastern boundary starting from the fishpond in Dong’an Community bordering Houtian Village in Tong’an, its western edge reaching the Tianhai area of Xinglin Bay bordering military farms and Tianma Overseas Chinese Farm, its southern limit adjacent to Jimei Subdistrict along Planning Road No. 12, and its northern edge connecting to the ridge between Damao Mountain and Meiren Mountain bordering Tong’an District. The subdistrict governs six communities: Hujing, Yecuo, Fenglinmei, Suncuo, Dong’an, and Duishan, and also includes the provincial Tianma Breeding Pig Farm. The total area of the subdistrict is 18.4 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 12,000 and a migrant population of nearly 50,000.
