Tianjian Ancient Folk Houses

Tianjian Ancient Folk Houses is located at No. 368, Nanli, Tianjian Village, Dadeng Town. Built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875–1908), it faces west and is a traditional red-brick three-courtyard folk house. The front features a red-brick courtyard wall with a central stone-framed gate, a central patio, small side wings (called "ju tou") on both sides, and the main structure at the rear. It is 10 meters wide and 12 meters deep, covering an area of approximately 120 square meters. The front courtyard wall is adorned with colorful clay sculptures on the water-wheel panel, while the swallowtail ridges along the top of the wall and the wave-shaped gables of the side wings serve as decorative elements. The rear section has three bays in width and three in depth, with a central hall flanked by side rooms, a flush-gable roof, and swallowtail ridges. During the Anti-Japanese War, the Kinmen County Government was once headquartered here.
