Huangchaoshan is located in the southwestern part of Dongtian Town, Nan'an City, at an elevation of 1,095 meters. It was named after Huang Chao, the leader of the peasant uprising army during the late Tang Dynasty, who once stationed his troops here. It has now become a well-known natural scenic area. The terrain is rugged and perilous, featuring jagged peaks, grotesque rocks, undulating mountain ranges, and picturesque landscapes. The scenic area is essentially a long, rugged, and steep canyon suitable for exploration, stretching about 3 kilometers in length. Along the way, there are various stunning and peculiar rocks that are truly breathtaking. In the middle, there are several green pools of varying sizes that serve as river crossings—essential spots for tourism and adventure. The canyon is adorned with hanging springs that flow like silk ribbons and gurgle melodiously like songs. The area also preserves over 10 cultural and historical sites related to Buddhism, Taoism, and military history from different dynasties. These sites have a long history and are associated with many beautiful legends and touching folk tales.

Deep within the canyon lies a magnificent waterfall cluster. The source of the waterfalls is at an altitude of over 480 meters, with a width of more than 30 meters. It consists of three tiers of waterfalls, each with a green pool of over 100 square meters beneath it. Adventurous visitors can climb to the second waterfall and even dive into the pool to enjoy the fun of being in the water. The main waterfall is over 100 meters high, the second over 80 meters, and the third over 60 meters. When the water volume is high, the sound of the falls is thunderous and can be heard up to ten li away. Moreover, the waterfall area is often shrouded in mist and clouds all year round, with colorful rainbows soaring across the sky, creating a spectacular view.

Huangchaoshan Natural Scenic Area boasts lush mountains, clear waters, thriving trees, and blooming flowers, making it a paradise for various rare plants and animals.
