Hometown of Ye Fei

The Hometown of Ye Fei is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism destination.

The Red Tourism Area of Ye Fei’s Hometown is located in Zhanshi Village, Jintao Town, Nan’an. Centered around the magnificent Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Revolutionary History Museum, it links together key sites including General Ye Fei’s former residence, the Overseas Chinese Heart Garden, and Tiger Rock. It has been named a patriotic education base by the Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Quanzhou City, and Nan’an City, a national defense education base by Fujian Province, Quanzhou City, and Nan’an City, a clean governance education base by the Fujian Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, and the first stop on Quanzhou City’s Red Tourism Route A. With over 45,000 visitors annually, it serves as a red tourism area integrating clean governance education and education on the Party’s mass line.

The Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Revolutionary History Museum is located in front of General Ye Fei’s former residence and features two exhibition halls: “Special Exhibition on General Ye Fei, the Overseas Chinese General” and “Special Exhibition on the Revolutionary History of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese.” Among them, the “Special Exhibition on the Revolutionary History of Quanzhou Overseas Chinese” showcases 213 revolutionary figures of overseas Chinese origin from Quanzhou, highlighting their remarkable lives and outstanding contributions to supporting the motherland’s revolution and pursuing the Chinese Dream of “national prosperity, national rejuvenation, and people’s happiness” since the Xinhai Revolution.

General Ye Fei’s former residence was built over 120 years ago, covering an area of more than 700 square meters with a built-up area of 480 square meters. The exhibition hall is divided into six sections: Hometown and Family Childhood, Joining the Revolution, Years of War, Devotion to Coastal Defense, Building the Nation, and Continuing to Contribute in Later Years. Illustrated with texts and photos, it reflects the glorious life of General Ye Fei.

The Overseas Chinese Heart Garden was built in memory of General Ye Fei, a returned overseas Chinese from the Philippines. The garden features both four-cornered and eight-cornered pavilions, symbolizing overseas Chinese returning from all directions.

Tiger Rock is located below the front of the Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Revolutionary History Museum. Viewed from the front, the rock resembles a turtle, while from the side it looks like a crouching tiger. A 300-year-old large banyan tree grows on the massive rock. It is said that Ye Fei and his brother often studied under the banyan tree in their childhood, and because General Ye Fei was born in the Year of the Tiger, later generations named the rock Tiger Rock.

As the location of the scenic area, Zhanshi Village is the hometown of Ye Fei, a renowned overseas Chinese general and founding general of China, as well as the site of the Jintao Work Committee of the “Annan-Yong” Central County Committee during the Second Revolutionary Civil War. It is a well-known revolutionary base area in southern Fujian. The area’s red struggle history has left behind numerous revolutionary relics, including General Ye Fei’s former residence, the Red Second Army Guerrilla Hospital, and the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument.
