Ye Fei's Former Residence

Ye Fei's Former Residence is a Fujian Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism attraction, a patriotic education base, and a national defense education base.

Ye Fei's Former Residence is located in Zhanshi Village, Jintao Town, Nan'an City, dating back to the Republican era.

Description: Originally built in the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty, it is a traditional Southern Fujian residential building with a construction area of about 480 square meters and a site area of over 700 square meters. The single-courtyard, two-section, five-bay structure connects to an eastern wing, featuring a post-and-lintel wooden frame, a gable-and-hip roof, and gray-tiled roofing. In 1919, Ye Fei's father brought him back to their hometown to live here. Ye Fei (1914–1999), originally named Ye Qiheng, joined the revolution in 1929, was awarded the rank of General in 1955, and served as Commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, Commander of the Navy, and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. He was an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a tested and loyal communist fighter, and a proletarian revolutionary and military strategist.

After the passing of General Ye Fei, with the attention of the Quanzhou and Nan'an municipal Party committees and governments, construction of Ye Fei’s Former Residence began in early 1998 and was completed in June 2001, when an opening ceremony was held. The exhibition hall is divided into six major sections: I. Hometown, Family, and Childhood; II. Joining the Revolution; III. Years of War; IV. Devotion to Coastal Defense; V. Building the Nation; VI. Continuing to Contribute. The museum displays photos documenting General Ye Fei’s life, as well as items he used in his youth such as a wardrobe, desk, bed, and small oil lamp; his worn palm-bark raincoat, rattan schoolbag, military uniform, calligraphy works, and weapons used during the war years.

In October 2001, the Nan'an Municipal Party Committee and Government designated Ye Fei's Former Residence as a Nan'an Municipal National Defense Education Base; in March 2002, it was named a Nan'an Municipal Patriotic Education Base; in July 2002, it was designated as the third batch of Quanzhou Municipal Patriotic Education Bases by the Quanzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government; in November 2004, it was named a Patriotic Education Base by the provincial federation of overseas Chinese; and in November 2007, it was designated as a Provincial National Defense Education Base by the provincial government.

Protected Area: East to the village road, south to 10 meters outside the rear eaves wall, west to the east wall of the village committee, and north to the edge of the stone courtyard in front of the residence.

In 2018, Ye Fei's Former Residence was announced by the People's Government of Fujian Province as a ninth batch Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
