Former Site of the Toumei Revolutionary Base

The Former Site of the Toumei Revolutionary Base is a cultural relic protection unit of Nan’an City.

The Former Site of the Toumei Revolutionary Base is located in Sanluo, Toumei Village, Xiangyun Town. Dating from the modern era, it is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

It was first built in the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The building faces south and is arranged along a north-south axis, featuring a layout of three sections and five bays, with a single wing room on the east and a double wing room on the west. At the front are the main courtyard, secondary courtyard, and a pond; at the back is a garden, with flower stands, study rooms, and a chessboard-style house on both sides. The site covers an area of 3,100 square meters. During the Liberation War period, this building served as the birthplace of the Qitou Village Party Branch of the Chinese Communist Party and as an operational base for the underground guerrilla forces of the Qitou Party.

On January 21, 2020, the People’s Government of Nan’an City designated it as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in the fifth batch.

Protected area: To the south, the building extends to the pond; to the north, to the rear eaves wall; to the west, to the west gable wall; and to the east, to the east gable wall of the study room.

Xiangyun Town: Commonly known as "Xiangyun," the town is located in the western part of Nan’an. It borders Yingdu to the east, Anxi’s Longmen to the west, Tong’an District of Xiamen to the south, and Fengcheng of Anxi to the north. Historically, it was a hub for merchants from the three counties of An, Nan, and Tong. Covering an area of 69 square kilometers, it has a total population of over 26,000, with more than 50,000 overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It is one of the well-known hometowns of overseas Chinese in southern Fujian.

Xiangyun is an inland mountainous area, predominantly consisting of mid-to-high mountains, with an average elevation of over 600 meters. The region features widespread terraced fields and is often shrouded in clouds and mist.
