Taihu Ancestral Hall

Taihu Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Taihu Ancestral Hall is located in Jinghou Village, Huangshi Town, Licheng District. It was built in the 20th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1592) when Zhu Fengshi (Dharma name Huixu), a scholar of the "Three-in-One Teaching," spread the doctrine here. The hall faces south and has a total width of 15.2 meters and a total depth of 15.2 meters, covering an area of 1,386 square meters. Along the central axis, there are, in sequence, the front hall, the main hall, and the rear hall. The main hall features five bays in width and five columns in depth, with a hip-and-gable roof, and is supported by a post-and-lintel and mortise-and-tenon wooden structure. The front eaves are fitted with a partition board. The building is well-preserved. Taihu Ancestral Hall was designated as a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province in 2009.

I. Geographic Location of the Village

Jinghou Administrative Village is situated in the central-western part of the Nanyang Plain in Putian, within the core area of Huangshi Town. Its exact location is on the southern section of Nanyang East Avenue along the Huanghan Highway. The village office is about one kilometer from the town government. Walking out of the village, it takes only 5–10 minutes to reach the Huangshi Post Office, shops on New Street, the educational institution of Huangshi — Putian No. 8 Middle School, and the commercial hub — Huangshi Trade Market.
