Chen Guozhen (1902–1949) was the twin elder brother of Chen Guzhu. In his early years, he studied at the Provincial No. 4 Normal School. During the May Fourth Movement, he participated in anti-Japanese goods activities in Putian. In 1919, he abandoned his studies and went south, teaching in Singapore. In the summer of 1926, he returned to China, and in the winter of 1928, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. Introduced by Chen Yannian, he went to Xiamen to organize the Fujian Overseas Chinese Association and used his legitimate position as editor-in-chief of the Commercial Daily to cover revolutionary activities. In 1930, he took part in the Xiamen prison break led by Tao Zhu, safely relocating comrades. At the end of 1937, after losing contact with the Party organization, he went to Nanyang again, working at the Fujian Guild Hall, and joined the Malayan Communist Party that same year. After returning to China in 1946, the Party assigned him to establish an underground organization in southern Fujian. He became a key leader of the underground Party organization in the region. In March 1949, he was arrested due to betrayal by a traitor and was martyred in Longyan Prison in June. He was later recognized as a revolutionary martyr.

The former residence of Martyr Chen Guozhen is a Qing Dynasty-era civilian house, located to the west of Chen Guzhu’s former residence at Qianxia Cuo. It faces south and is a two-story earthen-and-wood structure with three wing rooms, consisting of left and right wing rooms, inner wing rooms, and a courtyard. The building covers an area of 70 square meters and is currently well preserved.
