Huang Tao Ancestral Hall

Huang Tao Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Huang Tao Ancestral Hall is located on Dongli Lane, Yinglong Neighborhood Committee, Zhenhai Subdistrict Office, Licheng District. It was built in the eighth year of the Yuandade era (1304) to commemorate Huang Tao and was reconstructed after the Japanese pirate raids during the Ming Dynasty. Facing south and situated to the north, it covers an area of 423.18 square meters. The structure consists of the memorial gate, main hall, and lower hall. The main hall features five bays in width and two bays in depth, with a post-and-lintel wooden frame construction and a hip-and-gable roof. The hall preserves one stone stele from the twelfth year of the Ming Zhengtong era (1447), and the right wall of the memorial gate displays a collection of Ming Dynasty stone plaques inscribed with phrases such as “Number One Scholar,” “Prosperity Through Virtue,” “Former Residence of the Winter Official,” “Heavenly Steed Comes from the Blue,” “Literary Brush Awakened by Spirit,” “Father and Son as Esteemed Scholars,” and “Famous Confucian Statesman.” The hall enshrines Huang Tao. Huang Tao was a literary figure of the late Tang Dynasty and played a role in advising Wang Shenzhi in his governance of Fujian. Originally housed in the hall were Ming Dynasty stone inscriptions including the “Record of Meritorious Rewards of the Dongli Huang Clan Sijingtang,” the “Record of the Huang Clan Ancestral Hall Sijingtang,” and the “Text of Ministerial Offerings of Sacrificial Fields by the Attendant Official,” as well as stone carvings such as “Respect and Grace” and “Dengying Pavilion,” all of which were lost during the Cultural Revolution. Huang Tao Ancestral Hall was designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2009.

Yinglong Community: Yinglong Community is under the jurisdiction of Zhenhai Subdistrict, Licheng District. It is located in the northern part of Zhenhai Subdistrict, about 1.5 kilometers from the Zhenhai Subdistrict Office. The community’s name is derived from combining one character each from Yinghui She and Longpo She. To the east is Fuxia Highway, to the south it faces Fengshan Community and Changshou Community across Meiyuan East Road, to the west it neighbors Meifeng Community, and to the north it borders Gongchen Subdistrict of Chengxiang District. The entire community spans 0.7 square kilometers, has a total of 3,500 households, a population of 11,000, and includes 11 resident groups.
