The former site of the CCP Xianyi Girls' School Branch in Putian is located at No. 78, Jinqiao Lane, Fengshan Community, Zhenhai Subdistrict, Licheng District, Putian City.

In the second half of 1926, Chen Guozhu, Secretary of the CCP Putian Branch, assigned party members from Putian to go to rural areas on Sundays to promote revolutionary ideas among peasants—opposing imperialism, feudalism, and warlord rule—and to identify potential recruits and establish rural party branches. In October 1926, four rural party branches were established in Aobing, Jiaji, Shanmen, and Fengwei. In the autumn of the same year, Chen Tianzhang and Wu Mengze also carried out activities at Putian Xianyi Girls' School, recruiting members such as Guo Xiaoyun, Wu Fengying, and Chen Yuchui, and forming the CCP Xianyi Girls' School Branch, with Guo Xiaoyun serving as secretary. They conducted revolutionary propaganda within the school to expand the influence of the Party organization.

Putian Xianyi Girls' Middle School was founded in 1895, originally established as Nei Nüxue (Inner Girls’ School) in 1892. In 1952, it was renamed Putian Girls' Middle School (senior high department), and in 1956, it became Putian No. 9 Middle School, admitting both male and female students. Its original location was opposite Wenfeng Palace, but it was relocated to No. 78, Jinqiao Lane (now Putian Private Experimental Primary School in Licheng District) due to urban redevelopment. After the establishment of Licheng District in 2002, the former Chengjiao Middle School, Liyang Middle School, and Changlin Middle School were merged to reopen Putian No. 9 Middle School, with its new campus located on Yanshou Road, Gongchen Subdistrict Office, Licheng District. In December 2011, the CCP Putian Municipal Committee Party History Research Office designated the site for protection with a commemorative plaque.

It got its name because there is a high mountain within its area, situated at a feng (phoenix) shaped landform, where villagers built their homes at the foot of the mountain.
