The Former Site of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China is a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China is located in Siting Natural Village, Haopu Community, Gongchen Subdistrict, Licheng District, Putian City.

In 1926, Zhang Boting, a villager from Siting Village who worked as a handyman at Hanjiang Middle School, began participating in revolutionary activities under the guidance of the Party organization. In 1927, Zhang Boting returned to his hometown and, together with Party cadres, mobilized peasants in the Siting and Jiaoxia areas, established a peasant association, and united a group of peasants who supported the revolution, thus creating a relatively stable revolutionary base. For over 20 years during the revolutionary period, this site served as an important revolutionary stronghold connecting the inland and coastal areas of Putian County. On March 10, 1938, Liu Tujun, a member of the Central Fujian Working Committee of the CPC and commander of the Independent Battalion of the 80th Division of the Army, along with others, were arrested in Putian, throwing the entire city into turmoil. Upon learning the news, Huang Guozhang, secretary of the Working Committee, immediately sent people to notify comrades who were waiting at his home for an expanded meeting of the Working Committee to evacuate immediately and move to Zhang Boting’s home in Siting Village for regrouping. On March 11 of the same year, the Central Fujian Working Committee held an emergency meeting at the communication station in Zhang Boting’s home in Siting Village, deciding to immediately dispatch local couriers to the city to inform comrades gathered at Sheqiaotou Restaurant for a military dependents’ meeting to disperse and evacuate. Subsequently, Huang Guozhang rushed to Fuzhou to report to the New Fourth Army Office and traveled to western Fujian to report to the Provincial Committee, while other comrades notified various local organizations to prepare for contingencies. During this period, the Putian County Committee was stationed at Zongxing Hall in Siting Village. In 1940, in order to implement the central directive on “concealment and consolidation” and the provincial committee’s strategy of “armed retreat,” and to firmly hold rural positions, the Central Fujian Party organization decided to relocate the Putian County Committee from Siting Village on the outskirts of Putian City to Ningli Village at the border of Putian and Yongtai.

The former site of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China is Zongxing Hall. The current structure is a renovated and rebuilt version of the original scale—a single-story brick-and-wood building with three wing rooms, facing south and covering an area of 70 square meters.
