Former Site of the Xihu Temple Liaison Station

The former site of the Xihu Temple Liaison Station is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Xihu Temple Liaison Station is located at No. 1 Tianxia, Hengtang Village, Huangshi Town, Licheng District, Putian City.

In 1935, the Putian Party organization carried out secret activities in Xihu Temple (also known as Bodhi Temple), establishing the Xihu Temple Liaison Station, which became an activity base for the Putian (Central Fujian) Party organization during the revolutionary period. In February 1949, Zhang Kun, a member of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China, and others stationed at Bodhi Temple to lead the armed struggle in the plains and coastal areas of Putian, mobilize the masses to eliminate evil and punish local tyrants, open granaries to relieve the poor, strike against enemies, and seize weapons.

At that time, the young Zhang Aizhu served as an intelligence liaison for the guerrilla forces while also being responsible for supplying the guerrillas with daily necessities, fully supporting the revolution and making active contributions to the revolutionary cause. In 2002, Su Hua, a member of the Fujian Provincial Committee of Retired Cadres, personally inscribed a plaque for the liaison station.

The former site of the Xihu Temple Liaison Station is a nunnery, facing east with its back to the west. Behind the main gate is a courtyard consisting of two cement-paved platforms, one above the other. On both sides are two-story brick-and-concrete residential buildings, each with three rooms per wing. Behind the upper cement platform is a temple hall. The building covers a construction area of 260 square meters.

Hengtang Village is located in the southwestern part of Huangshi Town, Licheng District. To the east, it borders Qijing within the same town; to the west, it neighbors Gouwei Village in Xindu Town; to the south, it adjoins Yingbian Natural Village, Liucuo Village, in Hutou Town; and to the north, it is adjacent to Dongjiao Village and Shanxiang Village in Xindu Town. The village covers an area of approximately 2.5 square kilometers, comprising 10 villager groups with a total of 920 households and a population of 4,313. The village has a two-committee leadership team of six cadres and a total of 82 Party members, including four probationary members and 56 village household representatives.
