Former Site of Qijing Transport Station

The former site of Qijing Transport Station is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of Qijing Transport Station is located in Xiazhuang Natural Village, Qijing Village, Huangshi Town, Licheng District, Putian City.

From 1920 to 1937, Qiansha Primary School was established at Wan Yin Temple in Qijing, Huangshi. During this period, Communist Party members such as Peng Chao, Fu Yunhuang, Lin Tianshu, and Zhang Junhuang taught at Qiansha Primary School and used their teaching positions as cover to carry out underground revolutionary activities. Su Hua also frequently participated in activities at Qiansha Primary School. In the autumn of 1944, the Central Fujian Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party decided to establish an underground transport station at Wan Yin Temple, with Chen Faquan serving as the underground party courier. Later, leaders of the Central Fujian Special Committee such as Huang Guozhang and Lin Runan, as well as Yang Qisong, Secretary of the Putian County Party Committee, and Lin Ruliang, all organized and carried out underground revolutionary activities and struggles at this transport station.

The former site of Qijing Transport Station is Wan Yin Temple, which was originally a granary built by Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple in Putian during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty. It was destroyed during the Japanese pirate raids on Putian in the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, but by the 1980s, due to leaking roofs and decaying wood, it was on the verge of collapse and underwent a complete renovation. The temple complex consists of a front and rear section. The front section has a central passageway hall flanked by two rooms on each side. The rear section’s main hall houses Buddhist statues, with one room on each side, and there are one side room on each side between the front and rear sections, with a large central courtyard. The total area is 360 square meters.

Qijing Village, Huangshi Town: Qijing Village is located in the southern plain of Nanyang, downstream of the Mulan River and by the shore of Xinghua Bay. The village has 1,009 households, a total population of 5,048, and arable land area of 2,350 mu. It is divided into 7 sections and 16 villager groups. The village has 15 two-committee cadres and a total of 116 Party members, including 3 probationary members. There are 60 household representatives. The main cash crops in the village are rice, mushrooms, and longan, with an average per capita income of 8,294 yuan for farmers.
