Former Site of the Qingzhuo Revolutionary Activity Base

The Former Site of the Qingzhuo Revolutionary Activity Base is a cultural heritage site protected by Licheng District and a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Qingzhuo Revolutionary Activity Base is located in Wangcuo Natural Village, Qingzhuo Village, Xindu Town, Licheng District, Putian City.

In 1935, the CPC Putian County Committee set up a secret liaison station at the home of Chen Fazhi, a CPC member in Qingzhuo Village, Xindu. Leaders of the Central Fujian Party organization, such as Wang Yujie, Su Hua, Huang Guozhang, and Zhang Zhaohan, came to the base to engage in revolutionary activities. They coordinated through Chen Fazhi and held meetings at Ruyi Slope behind Chen Fazhi's house and Xiangshan Palace with local underground party members such as Chen Qingfeng and Wang Chunlai during the night to discuss revolutionary efforts. Villager Chen Yalian was involved in distributing revolutionary leaflets. The establishment of the Qingzhuo underground party activity base provided a stronghold for the CPC Putian (Central Fujian) organization to carry out revolutionary activities and contributed to the liberation of Putian.

The Former Site of the Qingzhuo Revolutionary Activity Base is Xiangshan Palace, which faces south and is a single-story structure made of earth and wood. The central part is the main hall, with five brick-and-wood houses on the west side of the main hall and six earth-and-wood houses on the east side. This temple was originally built by local residents to enshrine Qian Siniang, a woman from Changle who came to Putian during the Song Dynasty (1064) to construct the Mulan Weir. At that time, it was only a tomb pavilion, but it was expanded into a temple during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era. The temple ceased religious activities in 1958, was rebuilt against the mountain in 1985, and was designated as a cultural heritage site of Putian County by the Putian County People's Government in April 1986.

Qingzhai Village is located at the foot of Mount Hufu, by the Mulan River, with the water channel of the Dongzhen Reservoir running through the area. It is 4.1 kilometers from the town center.
