Jiulongji Scenic Area

Jiulongji Scenic Area is a national scenic area and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Jiulongji Scenic Area is located 13 kilometers southeast of Zhouning County. The area features unique peaks, exquisite rocks, and deep valleys. The Longjiang Stream cascades down steep cliffs in layers, forming a nine-tiered waterfall group.

According to measurements by relevant authorities, the total drop of the waterfall is about 300 meters, with the first tier alone having a drop of approximately 47 meters and a width of 76 meters, which can reach up to 83 meters during the high-water season. The splashing water can surge over 10 meters high, and mist can still be seen more than 100 meters away. On the upper right side of the waterfall, there is a pool about 10 meters in diameter that appears and disappears amid the falls, locally known as the “Dragon Eye.”

The third and fourth tiers have a drop of 7 meters and a width of over 50 meters; the fifth tier is split in half by a huge rock, also called the “Dragon Tooth Waterfall.” Below the fifth tier lies a deep pool covering an area of over a thousand square meters, named the “Crouching Dragon Pool.” Visitors can take a boat ride on the pool to view the waterfall.

The sixth to ninth tiers form the “Four-Tiered Waterfall,” also known as the “Four-Fold Waterfall,” with a total drop of about 60 meters. These tiers are interconnected, each flowing seamlessly into the next.

The Jiulongji Waterfall Group is a recently discovered rare waterfall formation and has been listed as one of the first batch of provincial-level scenic areas in Fujian Province.
