Jiulong Grottoes (also known as Bat Cave) Scenic Area is a valley stretching approximately 3 kilometers, featuring murmuring streams, clusters of waterfalls, rare flowers and exotic fruits, lush forests and bamboo groves, deep valleys and secluded caves—truly breathtaking scenery. The area’s pristine, unpolluted natural environment is especially praised by visitors.

The stream water originating from the mountain rocks is crystal clear, pure, sweet, and refreshing, prompting many visitors to pour out their bottled mineral water and instead drink straight from the rocky springs. The streambanks are lined with dense clumps of slender bamboo, vibrant and lush. Looking around, the nearby scenery is charming and varied, while in the distance, the mountains appear in soft hues of blue, creating a refreshing and uplifting atmosphere that makes one think of Tao Yuanming’s “Peach Blossom Spring.” The surrounding hills are dotted with peculiar rocks and stones, such as the “Emerging Coral,” “Gibbon Gazing at the Moon,” and “Peacock Displaying Its Feathers,” especially the majestic and upright “Root of Life,” which forms a perfect natural pairing with the “Gate of Life” downstream. Walking along the stream, sheer stone walls suddenly rise up on both sides, reaching heights of a hundred zhang, with the space between them no more than ten meters wide. As you walk through, you’ll see withered vines swaying between the steep cliffs, and lush bamboo and forests beside the murmuring waters—it’s truly nature’s masterpiece.
